Komplekt is a cultural management and consultancy agency focused on design and other creative practices. The Studio generates content and manages self-initiated as well as commissioned projects.
In episode four, we take a look at craft design and the magic of its creation, linked to human imagination, the desire to experiment and, above all, working with one's hands.
Our guest is architect Maria Baleva, owner of the highly popular Pottery&Poetry brand, which has been turning the table into a small feast for years. Maria founded the company together with her friend, lawyer Zornitsa Genova, who stands behind the haiku-poetry that accompanies every Pottery&Poetry item. Currently, entire collections could be found on the shelves of one of the most famous and tradition-steeped shops in the world - Liberty in London. Pottery&Poetry's plates, glasses and table accessories are sold from their studio in Sofia to galleries in France, Qatar, Japan and Dubai, and media such as Vanity Fair, Vogue, Financial Times and others recommend them on their pages.
Maria Baleva talks about Pottery & Poetry's stellar rise, how it is gaining the attention of media like Vogue, her relationship with ceramics and the balance between design and clay work.
